Abyssal Spirit

Done for the recent Beneath the Waves challenge. Concept by Guillaume Tholly.

I started in ZBrush, got the proportions I needed, laid on the muscles for a good study, then detailed in higher poly.
Baked in Marmoset and Substance.
Painted in Substance.
Some map editing in Affinity Photo.
Retopo and UV done in Maya and Blender.
The semi-transparent membrane on her back gave me a great deal of trouble. Achieving the proper smoothness and overall glow and opacity proved to be a big challenge.
As always, lots to improve on! On to the next!
Maps are 4K and 2K.
Total Poly Count is 42,842.
